How it started

It started at our kitchen table

My daughter Maisie loves to draw. One rainy afternoon she drew a family of capybaras and told me everything about them: who was brave, who was grumpy, and what went wrong at the ice-cream van. So we brought them to life together, with voices, music and a proper beginning, middle and end.

Watching her see her own characters move and talk on the screen was magic. Then she ran straight back to the table to draw the next one.

That's what Clever Cookie Studios is for. Not more videos to sit and watch: a reason to imagine.

What we believe

Five things everything we make is built around

  • Children are the authors

The best stories come from children themselves. We start with what they draw, say or dream up, and keep asking them what happens next. Watching their own idea grow shows them their imagination matters.

  • Stories teach how stories work

As we shape a story together, children think about characters, problems and how they're solved, and about beginnings, middles and endings: the building blocks of reading and writing.

  • Play with a purpose

Our games are built around real skills: times tables, spelling, logic puzzles and quick thinking. Best for ages 8 to 10 today, with levels for younger and older children coming.

  • Screen time with an end

No adverts, ever. Nothing plays on its own: at the end of every story we ask "Watch another?" and wait for someone to choose. Stories are short, and there's a calm bedtime mode.

  • Off the screen as well

Story trails get families walking in real woods and parks, adventure books ask gentle questions the next morning, and print packs take the characters back onto paper.

Our promises to grown-ups

  • No adverts, ever.
  • Nothing plays on its own.
  • Your child's details stay private. Nothing is shared publicly without a separate yes from you.
  • No endless feeds and no "just one more" tricks.
  • Made in the UK by a small family team.

Questions grown-ups ask

Isn't this just more screen time?

It's screen time with a purpose. Every story starts with something your child drew or imagined, our games are built around maths, spelling and puzzles, and nothing plays on its own or tries to keep them watching. Plenty of it happens away from the screen too: on a trail, with a book or with a pencil.

What does my child actually do?

They come up with the idea: a drawing, a character or a "what if". We ask them questions to shape the story, then they watch it come to life, often with their own voice in it.

Are there adverts?

No. There are no adverts anywhere, and we never sell or share your child's details.

What ages is it for?

Our stories are for children aged 2 to 12. The games are best for ages 8 to 10 today, and we're adding easier and harder levels.

What will your child dream up?

Start with a drawing, a toy or a "what if". We'll do the rest, together.
