What happens on a walk

Follow a family around The Lantern Seeds, stop by stop. Every stop has the same rhythm, so children quickly know what's coming.

  1. Set off

Phones go in pockets. The narrator leads the way and sets a mission to spot on the walk.

  2. Tap the plaque

At each stop, tap the plaque (or simply arrive). A new character appears and starts to talk.

  3. Take on the challenge

A quick real-world challenge, with an easier version for little ones.

  4. Earn a badge

Whoever led the challenge adds a new badge to their collection.

A badge at every stop

Each challenge earns an enamel-style badge for the explorer who led it. Spot everything on the walk, or finish a whole story, and a rare holographic one appears.

  • Our nine-year-old thought she was too old for it. She was wrong and she knows it. Great mix of moving, looking and listening.

  • We came for a quick walk and stayed two hours. My seven-year-old ran ahead to every plaque and the little one did the stomping challenges with total commitment. The Rainbow Pearls is now requested at bedtime.

  • Took my granddaughter on a wet Tuesday. She held my phone like it was treasure and shouted the answers at every stop. Easy to set up, even for me.

Questions grown-ups ask

What ages is Clever Trails for?

Stories are written for children from about 2 to 10. Each stop has a challenge for little ones and a slightly harder one for big kids, so brothers and sisters can play together.

Do we need signal on the walk?

No. Download a story at home and the narration, pictures and challenges all work offline.

Do the children need to look at the phone?

Hardly at all. The narrator speaks, so the phone can stay in a pocket. It comes out to show a challenge or to tap a plaque, then goes away again.

Can we play without a Clever Trails trail nearby?

Yes. Play-anywhere stories unlock each chapter as you walk, so any park, wood or beach path will do.

What do you collect?

A badge at every stop, plus rare holographic badges for spotting everything on the walk or finishing a whole story.

Is my family's information safe?

Children's profiles stay on your phone. Kids never need an email address, and we never sell personal information or show behavioural ads.
